Welcome to the Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind. We’ve been providing opportunities and assistance to visually impaired individuals for more than 80 years. We enhance the lives and opportunities of our clients through job training, employment, and a multitude of community services. The visually impaired clients we work with lead successful lives in their workplace, at home, and in their community.
The Loon Bar & Grill Golf Tournament Raises $41,000

On April 15th, golfers came out to The Golf Club of Dallas to support the 7th Annual Loon Bar & Grill Golf Tournament benefiting Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind. Golfers enjoyed an amazing round of golf on a beautiful course – all for a great cause.
A very special thank you to the efforts of The Loon Bar & Grill and its owner, Cliff Gonzales along with Walt Smith of Integrated Document Solutions for making this event possible! Their time and dedication in raising funds to assist individuals affected by blindness in North Texas are deeply appreciated.
We would also like to thank sponsors who played a big part in the event's success. Gold-level sponsors included Goody Goody Liquors, Spirit of Texas Bank and Dean Foods. Silver/Bronze-level sponsors were Aramark, Bourdon Forge Company, Entec Polymers, Faro International and Wilpak Industries.

National Industries for the Blind to Ensure Accessibility of Buildium’s Property Management Software
Partnership is NIB’s first commercial Section 508 Assurance Service contract
July 23, 2012, Alexandria, VA - National Industries for the Blind (NIB) secured its first commercial Section 508 Assurance Service contract with Buildium, a cloud-based property management software company based in Boston.
Under the contract, NIB will provide accessibility and usability testing and validation of Buildium’s online property and association management applications. These efforts will ensure that people with disabilities can successfully use the software. The agreement includes providing recommendations to improve testing for accessibility in future software development activities.
Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind in Texas, one of 90 nonprofit agencies associated with NIB through the AbilityOne Program, will provide services under the contract through a team of two individuals, one sighted and one blind.

About the Dallas Lighthouse
Since 1931, the Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind has provided jobs and services to the blind /visually impaired in North Texas. The Lighthouse, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, trains its clients for skilled service jobs in any office environment. It also staffs a manufacturing and sewing facility with blind/visually impaired employees who produce products for both commercial customers and government agencies, including the U.S. military.
