Oliver, has lost nearly all of his eyesight due to retinitis pigmentosa. However, he has worked a commendable 11 plus years at the Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind. For 30 years, he was a truck driver traveling throughout the country. However, at the age of 53, Oliver began noticing his sight was vanishing and he began feeling the need to have a blind person’s walking cane to help him navigate. Lucky for him, he knew about the Dallas Lighthouse and knew he could obtain a white cane here. Ten years later, his sight was practically gone. Today he only sees shadows.
Oliver works in Office Products on our binder carousel. He is 75 years old, and has lived his life to the fullest, even after loosing his sight. We are thrilled Oliver is an integral part of our manufacturing team at the Dallas Lighthouse.
